Have been looking through the post but could not see a resent post for the Oodnadatta track details. We were thinking of picking the track up on the way back from the rock with our jayco 17.53-3 around the 5th July 2917. Have read old post and most say the strech from Marla to Oodnadatta is pretty rough so were were thinking of going throgh the painted desert or the moon plain from Coober Pedy and "start" from Oodnadatta down to Marree.
Any suggestions? Anyone done it recently?

did it with a 14.44.5 outback a month ago from Leigh Creek-- the only problem was 234 vehicles in the "Shitbox Rally" spraying rocks everywhere -- made us bail out at William Creek across to Coober Pedy.
Its a pretty good gravel road a not not very corrugated.

The track was really good, too good as you could do 80 to 100kms most of the way then you hit a corner or dip (lots of them) first one took me by surprise, back off at the signs for them and you should be right. Like most dirt tracks look ahead and drive to the conditions: corners can be corrugated (most dips are well posted or they are marked with white road post - some are not though); cattle grids may have a bumps; look for clouds of dust or glimmers of light a head to let you know traffic is coming/you are catching someone; and watch for livestock or emus; slow down for creek crossings as they could be rutted or have loose gravel.
We slowed down when people when traffic was coming towards us and went to the far left of the road, most others did the same. However some of the tag alongs did not and we ended up with a crack in the windscreen.
Enjoy the track
