Hi everyone,

We have recently sold our Eagle camper trailer and are looking to upgrade to an Expanda. We have settled on the 17.56 2 outback model at this stage.

We are going to look at a 2nd hand one on Friday, 2013 model.

Can you give me some ideas of what we should really be looking at? Are there any known faults with that model?

Thanks :)

And get them to set it up for you....and watch carefully.

Ask about hot water, pumps, toilet (if fitted) and have a good look at the canvas and underbelly.

Test the stove etc and anything else you can think of.

and ....:welcome:.....and let us know how you go with the inspection. We often make suggestions and sometimes don't hear anything more.....ah well.

Hi @jogel. We had a 2012 17.56.2 OB.

http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/the-marshians-17-56-2-ob.5396/

The major issues we had with it involved leaks in the roof from a poorly fitted solar panel and replacement of all wheels due to cracked rims.

Other than that, it was reasonably trouble free. Fit and finish in parts was questionable but tolerable for most part. We loved our van and really enjoyed it. It's a solid model with a great layout.

Welcome to the forum @jogel
As @bigcol and @Dobbie make sure everything opens/shuts and test ALL appliances etc... Including rolling the awning out and in.

I'm not sure about specific issues with a 2013 model (Apart from maybe the usual cupboard door and drawer screws falling out and maybe the odd door lock not working). One would think that any minor (or early major) issues would already be fixed under warranty.

But as @Smergen alluded to........ check for any water damage under beds, inside cupboards, behind fridge vents, stained ceiling etc.

Not sure if Jayco will part with the info but maybe get hold of the chassis number and ask them if they can check records for any warranty work previously carried out?

And finally... Good Luck with your search. Just remember the first one you look at may not be the best or cheapest!
