Hi Guys,

This is what I experienced but there will obviously be other options. We bought our van in Victoria and drove it back to WA.

Our dealer sent us on our way with a UVP. Unregistered vehicle permit.

This permit is valid for 28 days and is from the dealers address to the owners residential address. It does states it must be the most direct route. You have to stay somewhere though and sometimes you take a wrong turn and end up places that aren't quite that direct.;)

The permit allows transport to other states between sunrise and sunset. Beware though as per usual the WA Dept. of transport has other ideas. You are actually meant to apply for a WA permit before you cross the border. Apparently. The WA permit is valid for only 48. You are not actually insured if something should happen to the van so beware.

There are authorized Vehicle Examination Centre's all over the state so you will just need to google them find locations. The check takes about 40 minutes and the confirmation from DOT takes about 30 minutes. The paperwork is sent on line but needs to be manually checked when received by head office in Welshpool.

The fee was $86.30 for the examination. You will need gas compliance certificate and vehicle VIN etc. The fees for licensing and new plates was about $236. You will need proof of purchase etc.

Anyway hope this may help.
