Kangaroo Island recommendations

Hi all,

Looking to visit KI over the Christmas holidays with the Expanda.

Having never been there before, and seeing a multitude of camping options there, has anyone got any recommendations for a nice place to stay ?

From memory a lot of b&B, and 2 caravan parks. I don't recall camping options tho sorry.

Was there 3 months ago
3 van Parks
1 when you get off the boat - Small and reasonably new
1 at kingscote - small sites old amenities but located in the midde of everything
1 at Western KI - looked the best but its a long way from the main attarctions which are around Kingscote.

Dependant upon your ferry arrival time , and depatrure times you may need to overnight in Pennshaw (Ferry terminal) Kinscote is where we stayed which is about an hour from the ferry, its not the best but its central. If you are there for a week or more split your time between Kingscote ( say 4 night) and Western Ki about 2 hrs from the Ferry (3 nights).

Theres also the option of Nat Park camping out toward the western end.

IF you book either Pennshaw or Kingscote at the time of booking the ferry they do a package deal. Effectivley we got our 4 nights at Kingscote for the price of 1.

Doesn't K.I have Qurantine requirement for Fruit/Veg /Honey etc like the other states do.

Yeah Bushman but from recollection its only honey. There is no check however.

The Quarantine to watch is at the SA border near Renmark its pretty thouough. If you ask they will give you a brovure on the Quarantine requirements for each state.
