hmmm... guess ok if away from population for some time, but you would want to be sure your awning was clean to start with.
Be ok for washing etc.

I reckon it would be ok as long as you let it flush for the first 10 minutes or so. Neat idea.

Having to be on tank water for over 25 yrs, our roof gets a wash every few years, the gutters cleaned out when they block and the tanks, well if I got a cleaner in the bottom would probably fall apart so never cleaned, we are still alive and kicking so you should be right with water off the awning roof.
More than likely taste yuck and how much would you really harvest............................you never can taste the bird poo anyway....lol.
Serious though, good idea just let the first couple of lts run off and be good to go, great idea.

I was actually thinking, more along the lines of having the water flow away from the van..............
dunno if I would bother collecting it to drink....... maybe if I was in the middle of no-where......

We were in Noosa when it was bucketing down. Attached a cut off drink bottle with a cable tie to awning arm on downslope side of awning to direct rainwater away from concrete slab that was pouring off the awning, could have filled a 44 gallon drum every hour. Seriously, I even have video!:p
