It's getting close now and to be honest I just couldn't wait any longer to write something up on our impending delivery.
As i mentioned in the new members thread some time ago, we were intending to move back into camping and touring but not how we had previously done with tents, swags and soft floor campers. We went out with the idea of getting into a Swan or Eagle, after a visit to a Jayco dealer and seeing the SC on the way and giving it some thought with the intended use it became a no brainer for us, and surprisingly the price wasn't a shock either.
We chose the 17.58-1 over the -3 for a couple of reasons, 3 children being the main one and we didn't want the hassle of setting up the dinette every night for a bed, and the fact I despise portable toilets, well emptying them anyway, plus we *&%#ed in the bush for age's so it's not such a biggy to set up a proper hygienic bush toilet that is agreeable with the environment when we free camp.
Although I sometimes think I went overboard with the options, we wanted it to be pretty self sufficient from the start and some things just cant be added after the build. With that in mind I went through what I thought I needed and also did plenty of spying through others setup's on this site and others. The list chopped and changed a bit but in the end I am happy with our list of options as below, it will suit us and our intended use and that's what really matters.
So the build is as follows
SC 17.58-1OB
Extended Drawbar
Rear Mounted Spare
2 x 150Watt Solar Pnels
2 x Gas Bottles
2 x Water Tanks
HWS with Ext Shower
Roof Mounted A/C
Picnic Table
Drifter Control Panel
Waeco 136lt 12/240V Compressor Fridge
M/Wave mounted above fridge
Extra cupboard below stove where M/W was
Fusion Basic System
Hopefully they put the Drifter where I requested and not at the end of the top bunk and they also put the jockey wheel in the center of the A frame as requested, but delivery time will see how well they followed the order sheet.
With any luck in a couple of weeks this thread will have some nice pic's to add to it with the new van and shiny new tug in the front, I might have already said this before but as Big Kev used to say
I'M EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
