We are very happy with it, and has everything that we could possibly ever need so it is definitely our "forever van" and hubby is now banned from attending anymore caravan shows!

Hi Linda64
We are also about to upgrade to this model from an Expanda 14.44-3, but we had a concern about having the air con unit on the roof - have you had any issues with that ?

We have roof a/c in the current Expanda. At the time it wasn't popular and a few thought us brave. It's been faultless and once they changed the struts for heavy pretty easy too. I think they do it better now, I tried a 17 and as I lifted the front the rear just followed.

Thanks achjimmy, I was thinking they would have to strengthen the roof otherwise it would flex, crack and let water in, but sounds like they have addressed that.

they do strengthen the roof with a alloy H frame. you can see them in the coast to Coast catalog, or when dew settles on the van and you look down on it :D

Well that definitely looks good - we have had wonderful trips in our Expanda and will be sad to change - the Journey will be good - not as much bench space as our Expanda but its a trade-off - Thanks again for posting the H Frames - I feel much more at ease about having an air con on the roof now

The heating side of it is doesn't work if the outside temp is under 7c and the manual even says that so you do need to carry a separate heater. But I actually prefer it in the roof, rather than wasting valuable cupboard space. Will have to wait until summer to see how,the aircon goes.

We are 'fessing up - went into JAYCO Sydney to have a final look at the Journey and ended up buying the Starcraft 20.62-2. Just said on another thread that we are feeling sad and a bit guilty about moving away from our much loved Expanda but reckon we have had a great time with over 30 trips and the Starcraft will mean we will be much more comfortable caravanning as we age a bit with easier set-ups and pack-ups. The other thread suggested this website be called StarPanda's- now that is cheeky !!

Awesome looking van @Linda64, we have the roof a/c and the lid lifts easily, don't think we have the H frame, ours is the model before the journey was introduced. Ours looks just as big, but with bunks and not as fancy ensuite
