We bought a van without a hotwater system, plan in the future is to fit one.

These plans always take a while, but what system is recommended for ease of use, fitting etc. The suburban is standand on most vans, is self igniting, just needs one cutout on outside wall etc.

Are there any other systems people recommend ? anything that doesnt need a wall cutout ? any unuique ideas that could be used.

In the interim I will fit our glind to teh 4wd, so when bush camping we have a shower, was thinking of maybe running hotwater to a holding tank on the van for use at night etc ? or for a shower, ie heat it up and use in the next hour or so ?

80% of our camps are in CP's so not really a regular issue. I'm fine with a cold shower, but the 2 year cold always have a sponge bath.

Truma make an electric one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WAECO-71...Caravan_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3693a154

If you need a gas one for free camping then you will need a cut out. Another one you will see is an instant gas one made by Girard. Is lighter because its not holding 20 litres of water. This is the cheapest I have seen these for a while by the way. Nearly tempted to pull out my Suburban and put one of these in. They are gas only, so no mains power heating with this but its not boiling the kettle all day for a cup of coffee if you know what I mean. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Girard-I...Caravan_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19ec05a16c

The Suburban storage units. Your Jayco dealer could fit a Suburban pretty easily.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUBURBAN...Caravan_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a316221e3

What ever you choose, make sure it is approved and your installer is happy to install it.

If my Suburban ever dies I going with the instant gas unit, endless hot water as long as you have gas/water

You may like to consider the Truma Combo unit Water/van heater all in one.
