Great site you guys & girls have here.
About 7 weeks ago my wife & I purchased a late 09 16.52.2 SH Sterling & love it.
The day I got it home, I have been going right through the van, servicing wheel bearings to changing anode in the hot water service.
Along the way found a few problems & known ones during purchase. The 2 that really caught my attention was it was fitted with the wrong size spare from the factory or dealer, the van is fitted with 15" & had a 14" spare :ambivalence:
Now I have 2 15" spares.
Next problem was after changing the hot water service anode, the 240 volts kept tripping & a noise coming from around the HWS, after switching of all electrics to the HWS, it still was tripping.
So I remove the HWS & found that the 240 volt cable routing to the rear of the van was slightly cut while drilling for the HWS drain. That was reterminated

Anyhow a few more jobs were done & did a overnighter at Rapid Bay Park so we could use everything in van without hooking up to power or water to get a handle how everything works, had great time there also.
Towed it there with a 100 series LandCruiser 4.2 diesel which returned 13.8 ltrs / 100 ks which was a surprise considering the Stirling weighed in at 1852 kgs ATM.

Will do a couple of short trips before we head of to Cairns & down the coast.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome & yes having lurking through the threads getting ideas, simulate problems that members talk about & making the improvements,
One problem that I dwelled around was the sink drainage & flooding the shower which was easily fixed by upgrading the sulage hose from around 22 mm to 34 mm & putting a plug in the shower drain.

Welcome Reg, always great to have another SA bod on board ;)

Nice another 100 series great place SA i love it welcome

Yea love the Land Cruiser, mine has just turned over 380k & still drives as if it just left the show room floor,
Because I'm doing a big trip to Cairns, I've just replaced rear wheel bearings & studs, replaced the original water pump & thermostat while doing the cam belt, bearings & seals
The Cruiser is also chipped & 3" exhaust fitted

Cheers guys 8-)
