Well, how much can a panda bear. Quite a lot apparently.
Picked the 16.49.3 in January and have done 2 trips. 6 weeks on the south coast of NSW in Feb March. and now
4 weeks on the north coast of NSW.
Of the 10 weeks, 8 have been off grid. The expanda hasnt missed a beat. 150 watt panel and 2 100amp batteries have kept everything going.
However, heading back down the coast from the Yuraygir national park we decided we would like a bit of heating, so checked into South West Rocks Horseshoe bay park. Great place, middle of town, waterfront park.
So what happened, East Coast Low.
2 nights of buffeting winds up to 80 or 90 KMH.
How did the expanda go, Fantastic.
Preparation consisted of winding down the TV antenna, some occy straps under the storm covers to stop the Marilyn effect. Winding in the awning and opening a cask of Mr Stanleys finest.
Not much sleep the first night, probably less the second as the wind picked up. A lot of buffeting but the van held firm.
other vans had lowered their roofs or not. A lot of damaged annexes and awnings.
The expanda was fantastic, no damage and still looking good. The storm covers were fantastic and well worth the money.
Our last van was an outback eagle and while we sat through just as bad storms we were never as comfortable.
This was an extreme storm, the expanda was fantastic. Our heart goes out to those people, caravaners or not who have suffered damage this weekend.
