Hi All,
Just wondering what clever ideas you've come up with to ensure that your plates/bowls/cups etc stay in one piece and in one place while traveling, especially when off road.
Cheers,

Same a CG although we do have some 'Correlle' plates and china mugs and cups. We just have that non slip rubber matting on the floor of the overhead cupboard and the cupboards are full. Have travelled many a rough road with no loss.

Yes, the plasitic/melamine/enamel was my thinking for reasons of breakability and weight, but the GF has other ideas since we have surplus of "real" crockery and doesn't like the idea of eating of enamel. Glass for wine is a given though :)
If nothing else we'll get at least one trip out of the real stuff, and if we end up at Anaconda/Rays Outdoors part way through a trip then so be it - lesson learned!

I brought melamine plates and bowls quite a few years ago when we brought our first van and I am still using them BUT you can't put them in the microwave. I am thinking of buying some Corelle like we use in the house to put in the van. I don't need the mugs so may look at buying the pieces seperately when BigW have them on special (they do quite often, it is just a matter of keeping a look out). Not as light as the melamine but still very light.

Glass is a given too for wine!!!!!!! I have made bubble wrap sleeves for my wine glasses, both red/white and champagne, using a cheap $2 heat sealer and cut bubble wrap to size, making it longer so you can tuck the end into the glass. Slip in the glass and they are safe. I have not had a broken glass whilst in the "sleeve", once out that has been another matter!! We also have a camper trailer which the glasses have travelled in the back of and no problems in the "sleeves". I also have a back up set of 4 still in its original box and they also travel very nicely in that.

Also have the non-slip matting on the bottom of all cupboards.

We use the rubber matting as well and el cheapo china mugs for coffee, melamine plates and bowls and plastic cups. We don't have big wine glasses but the port glasses fit nicely inside empty stubbie holders.

Melamine plates bowls etc, so breakage issues there. For wine, we keep the glasses in the box they came in, and store that in the microwave when travelling. fits in nice and snug, and no issues so far!
