Can you add a wood block or two under the ramps?

or is that likely to be unstable?

It works for us....blocks are good thick ones and larger than the ramp itself. We find multiple smaller thinner blocks are a bit unreliable.

Hey all,

Anyone know what the *highest* levelling ramps (for a dual axle) on the market are?

We have been at 2 sites now where we cannot raise the side of the van enough to make it level.

Currently we just use a set like http://www.campsmart.net.au/assets/full/CSRA527C.jpg

TIA
A block of wood under ramp or if you have drop down legs just wind them up a bit more, when free camping I often dig a hole on the other side rather than use ramps.

Drive ours up on a couple of bits of firewood then give them to the neighbours for their fire pit when we leave... Hey @bigcol ;)

or if you have drop down legs just wind them up a bit more
I would be careful doing that.... The legs are for stabilising only and not leveling! Have seen a few stripped winding mechanisms with people over doing it.

I have a set of yellow plastic buggers from Supercheap and if I need a bit extra I have some hardwood boards about 20mm thick, which I usually use under the legs, I lay them on top of the ramp, if you put them under the ramp it can slide............at the moment I have 2 x 30mm blocks under the wheel as the ramp was getting a bit mangled on the river rocks, I only raise one wheel for levelling.
Having had to raise up about 300mm once I prefer to dig out the other side a bit as it all gets a bit dodgy, you have to chock the legs also.

Don't use the legs to jack it up as it will bend things especially if the legs are bolted to a cross rail.

Interesting....how does it work!

It looks uncomfortable.

I reckon any solution that is cheap, works and is not bulky has to be good. I'll stick to the old wood block and one ramp but, in all honesty, have only used the one ramp three times...I often wonder why I carry two!

I'm into paring down what we carry.

Coromal has independant suspension called Knee Suspension it is similar to swift but differn't too many others...........probably should use a block under both wheels......

Golf has Enduro...almost the same as J tech and we've used the same approach with both.

We don't find the suspension makes a difference when levelling side to side with the ramp...it's just a small distance to get the wheel on the ramp...but we have to remember to double chock the lifted wheel so it doesn't wobble off. Hence, we do carry four chocks.

I use a shovel on the high side when free camping as well as ramps on the low.

Going to have to get a small pick as last time the little shovel wasn't strong enough to dig a deep enough hole!

Twelve Apostles ?
Yeap. This was in a little caravan park in Princetown called Apostles Caravan park. Very basic park (no playground, pool, etc) and small and dated facilities - but both the park and facilities were keep spotless. Lush green lawn and soft dirt underneath. By 10am the park was empty (except us) and by that afternoon another 3-4 campers had come for the night. Seems to have a lot of overnighters.

If you wanted to save a few $$$ the reserve is about 1 mins drive (top/left of the picture).

Was about 6 minutes drive east of the Apsotles.
