Hi Everyone,
We are picking up our new 17 foot StarCraft Outback triple bunk van tomorrow so I thought it was about time to sign up and say hello ;)
We are a family of 5 from Adelaide and upgraded from an 88 Windsor poptop which we sold just after Christmas. The old van was OK but we found we couldn't use it when too hot or too cold ( no insulation or AC/heating) and not great for free camping. So on Christmas Eve last year we ordered the new van and a long 5 months later we are picking it up.
Will be interesting to see how it tows in comparison with the Triton dual cab. I suspect I'll actually have to drive like I'm towing now and become a bit more patient 8-)
Anyway, that will do for now. I'll try to put something up on the van and tug in the near future. But for now Hello :)
Cheers
Andre

Congrats on the new purchase, and welcome to the forum.

I hope you have lots of fun in the new toy, and looking forward to the pics

Welcome! How exciting, goodluck today. I am very excited to see your pics of the new van. I still have one more month until I pick up my Starcraft 17.58.3, it's a long wait isn't it!

Thanks for the kind words all.

Well yesterday didn't go exactly to plan and but we got there in the end.
When picking up the van after going through all the handover we hooked it up and found we had no brake lights :o
So after replacing the blown fuse on the car, again, no lights. Disconnect the van, replace the now blown again fuse, no lights >:(
Off came the van and back to the towbar place to complain. 30 minutes later they removed some wiring they had fitted and all good.
Back to Jayco and finally we were on our way after a 2 hour delay.

Car towed it alright after a couple of near stalls aka learning I couldn't just release the clutch without some revs on hills.
A lot heavier than the old van at 1988 tare + 2 full water tanks and 2 full gas bottles.

Anyway, he's some pics of the van at the old mans place where it will be stored (sorry about the poor phone quality):

Hi (all the way from cold, wet, windy Adelaide) @chartrock. Mr W. and I certainly considered the Flinder's meet, after all it is one of our favourite places to go BUT Mr W. has decided to compete in the Masters Games in Alice Springs which is just after the Flinder's meet. Money and time stop us from going to both. :(

Great looking van Andre and congrats! We have a 17ft Starcraft and Triton as well and yes you have to get the revs up a bit with the hill starts.
