Ok! we all know the necessary evil of insurance is a bloody rip off, especially CTP (in nsw)
my renewal came in the mail today as the PJ is due next month for Rego.
NRMA, $718.00 :eek-53:, now I know these things creep up every year but I have never paid anything like that for CTP, I will certainly be following that one up in the next few days, as I just used the government website for comparison www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au and came up with the following.

Prices (incl. MCIS Levy & GST)
Insurer
6-month Price
12-month Price

aami $255.56 $497.53
Allianz $257.00 $500.00
CIC-Allianz $252.00 $490.00
Gio $249.56 $485.68
NRMA $256.25 $497.87
QBE $237.00 $460.00
Zurich $261.00 $508.00

So if NRMA dont at least match or better their price from this site my business (all of it) will be going elsewhere .

The Green slip comparison website has saved us heaps of money over the years with green slips. With the Pathy and the Jimny each time it varies between $100-$300. All adds up.

does make you wonder how many people just pay the renewal they recieve in the mail and get done over.
I went to NRMA and they automacially reduced it to the price stated from the greenslip after checking a few more details.

Doesn't mean I'll keep greenslip with them though, still some cheaper options there.

I'm of the opinion that if you can't give me the best price the first time, that company can go and get nicked!
I think companies allow for tight wads such as myself who will always ask for a discount and adjust their initial costs accordingly. Those who just accept the initial quote is more money in their pocket.

It's very annoying to be with a company for a long time only for their quote to be nutted by a one off quote from some other company!
But I get what you mean, pretty much like buying a car, they top it up so you can talk it down!

Our CTP insurance comes included with the vehicle Rego here in WA and mine was $250 on the 2010 PK Ranger
Breaks down as this
Licence fee $ 385
CTP $ 227.27
GST on CTP $ 22.73
Stamp duty $ 25
Recording fee $ 13.05
Total $ 673.05 for 12 months

How does that compare with other states ?

Ps should have added thats for business use about $90 cheaper if car is for personal use

Bushman, The local NRMA office were quick off the mark to discount both car and van comprehensive insurance to match other quotes, but seem to recall they said that was what NSW government set it at. Will be wised up next year!!!!!
