Any one traveled the great inland road in the last 6 months Syd > Cairns?

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on road condition and if there is anything to be concerned about?

And does anyone know if there is an NSW equivalent of the great inland way like the QLD one?

Cheers all!

expanda, I would be waiting till just before I left to check road conditions but I can see your point about the difference of info supplied. It would make it easier to plan if you had some info on current conditions. :( Good luck with your planning.

Yep I think we will just have to wing it on the way up and take it as it comes.

We will have plenty of mobile devices / tablets and check out the conditions on the way up.

Ill just plan some escape points to get back to the coast in worst case scenario.

Route is planned out as per the below with some stops along the way.....

Looks like he has dropped pins on the Google map then you can use the ''Snipping Tool" if your pc has it.

Click on the windows icon bottom left of screen(on windows) it should be in there this then enables you to take a screen shot of what ever is on the screen

As I have done below this is for windows but if you have a mac that might be question for someone else

There is a qld site on road conditions http://131940.qld.gov.au/Road-Conditions.aspx its quite good gives you road works and crashes and hold ups on roads, If you are travelling inland the road from bileola and theodore etc was bumpy narrow and also watch out for mining trucks good idea to have uhf turned in as you might hear 6.7 north / sound bound on a particular road means a truck has a 6.7m wide coming a lot of time these large ones have police/ rta escort

cruza driver Holden_man wrongski sorry to disappoint :)

Two steps to do it like I have -

1) Create your google map and get the link to the map should be like this -

https://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=201433753266047350662.0004c49e7a0e630670c74&msa=0

2) Press the "Media" button which is the button next to the image button looks like a film strip and paste your link here

You can obviously just screenshot and upload your picture but its not interactive like mine where you can click the pins etc.

Let me know if you need a hand!
