Hi All,

Just after some advice on the Grampians in early July. Thinking of heading that way for a couple of days, will be just me and two kids (6 & 8) as SWMBO has to work. Looking for recommendations of Caravan parks and things to do.

I'd like a powered site (for heating at night) and somewhere that allows a camp fire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We stayed at the Lake Side park on the last long weekend, has heated outdoor pool which was 30deg but very cold getting out. They have fire drums and wood available. Great park. One of the recent Vic Forum meet was there an a few could vouch for me it was a nice place just a little out of town. The Big 4 is good but don't allow fires.

Heaps of walks to do, the wild life park and a must there are a few wineries.

Thanks @Tone. That sounds like a good option, I had a look at their website and seems to have everything.

Just one question, was the fire wood provide free or should I just bring my own from home?

Thanks

Wood was I think $15 a bag which last about a day and fire drums $10 per stay. The pub is a great feed too.

Halls Gap Caravan Park.! We have tried Big 4 but out of town and no fires, otherwise a nice park. Lakeside is in a great location and a big site with plenty of wildlife. Obviously near the lake and the cycle path takes you directly into town.
However, we prefer the ability to walk into the town for a meal or coffee etc so the central location of Halls Gap Caravan Park works best for us. Many sites have fire areas and again you will see plenty of wildlife with roos walking through the park every day.
We have never had any issue although potentially there is a slightly higher risk of theft due to being in the town centre.
You would not be disappointed in choosing any of these locations.

Thank for the recommendation all. We have been at the lakeside for two nights now and really enjoying the place. Probably stay another couple of nights, the kids are loving the pool.
