We left soldiers point this morning and had a shocking night last night! It was Canberra cold & blowing a gale..... I had rain come into the expanda in every crevasse and bit of canvas. Dear oh dear what a night. Any way she's set up and drying out in my inlaws driveway tonight.

I passed a couple at port Macquarie today. They had a worse day than we did, I'm not sure what happened but all that was left of their caravan was the axles and chassis & all their gear was spread up and down the Pacific Hwy!

Had a good weekend despite the rain and wind. We stayed at the Big4 in Lemon Tree Passage, nice place with plenty to do for the kids and owners were nice people and easy to get along with. We booked the water front sites, as you do but not nice in strong southerly winds. On Friday afternoon the kids spotted a dolphin close to shore and found the resident koala up a tree. I had to put our front wall up to block the wind but this was not easy to keep in place on the concrete slab as you can see the occy straps and the bow in the wall, that shot was taken when the wind wasn't too bad. The weber was awesome, really happy with it and we cooked on it for 2 families all weekend as well as our fist attempt at muffins.

It was a shame though having to put things away every night as we were warned that things have been going missing and even though i chain my waeco up they said it would be emptied so it stayed in the back of the paj running on dual battery. The owner of the park showed me a battery operated sensor/beeper that he got from Dick Smith which would be good for the annexe, will check out. Looking forward to the next getaway!

Great park there, use to be know as Koala Shores Not hard to tell why :biggrin1:

Been a long time since we've been there to stay pre van days actually, they never had water front sites back then but the allowed tent down there, remember helping park employee to dig out the old Landy + trailer when he buried on the beach area doing the sea weed clean up.

Tip for the muffins. place a cake rack/roasting rack between the muffin tray and the hot plate, looks yummy though.

Thanks for the tip Bushman, we did actually do as you said with the rack but only worked that out half way through....all trial and error I guess. Got an easy recipe for beer bread I'm keen to try also!

Cheers.

Yeh the miss's would of loved getting a retreat as they are great inside. Just couldn't justify buying a new car to tow the heavy thing as well.

Hope you have a great weekend, Burnsey, while some of us languish at home. Pathfinder already hitched to Expanda for Melbourne Cup 4 day weekend...bit embarrassing when neighbors think you're heading off now. Weather a bit iffy down here so hope you get the sunshine.

Looks like a great spot Burnsy Koalas are pretty rare here in W.A.
add a layer or two of Alfoil around the cake rack/trivet under the baking tray too it stops the bottoms getting over cooked

Hi all,

Just had a nice weekend at Norah Head holiday park with some great people, left on Friday morning and back Sunday afternoon. Another spare i'll be adding to my collection is the minature 30A fuse for the brakeaway unit! I checked the soc before leaving and nothing at all, tracked it down to the minature blade fuse in the fuse holder inside the case of the brakeaway unit.....must of blown when i did the j-box mod.

Anyway, weather great, not a bad park, clean amenities and a nice pool but unfortunately the jumping pillow was out of action. On Saturday we visited the light house and the crystal clear rock pools. This was the first time i have parked on top of a cgear mat....it seems that they got it wrong with a few of the sites and had them on the wrong side, it also made it a big step up to our caravan step as the (suppost to be annexe side) was higher.

Cheers.

Ahh Norah head...

Beautiful spot we started our camping adventures at that park before it had the pool and pillow and it was very basic.

The club can be accessed direct through the park which is handy for a beer :)!

Out of 10 how would you rate it now??

Forgot to mention the club, and yep access from park but I had my trusty waeco for grog supply....rating out of 10, I'd say 7. A bit more shade would be good!

Cheers.
