Hey all ... My name is Peter. Thought I would join up as we currently have our Camper Trailer up for sale and want to move into an Outback Expanda. We are looking at the 17.56-2. Not sure whether to go new or near new at this stage. So anyone with one for sale in Qld (or even northern NSW for that matter) let me know as I may be interested. Or if you all know anyone who wants a Camper Trailer also!!!

We have 3 young kids (4yo boy and 2.5yo twin boy and girl) so I am pretty keen on advice on caravanning with young kids.

G'day Peter, welcome mate! We also sold our camper trailer and have had expandas ever since, best move we ever did as it's allowed us to go away more often, we aim for once a month with 3 weeks in December. My girls are 8 & 10 now so been there with camping, the key to it with having young kids as I'm sure you'll agree is "quick and easy" as far as setup time and a bit of luxury, well that's my opinion anyway.

The 17' sounds great and a very popular model, I'm sure you and your family will be happy with it. My advice, do your homework, work out what extras you would like and see what's available for price as against new. If the vans you see are only a couple of grand cheaper than new this doesn't mean they will get asking price, I found the second hand market a bit tough to sell. If getting quotes for new, shop around as the price between dealers differs quite a bit.

Good luck with your sale and purchase which ever way you go.
Ps. Like your profile pic.....there is a thread on here called "roadside humor", I think that belongs there too!

Cheers.

We ended up with near new and saved about $8k and it still looked new. Good luck and hopefully you'll find something soon.

Thanks for all the welcomes and advice. Thanks also for the avatar comments, I like to chop and change to add a bit of humour.

Welcome Hubble80. You've landed in the right place. Expandas are family friendly and so is this forum. You wont know yourselves when you move up from a CT. As Burnsey says its about "quick and easy". That means everyone has a real holiday every time you go away, and that means you'll find more excuses to get away more often.
BTW a good pre-loved Expanda can be as good as new in my limited experience (no waiting, and in best case, all teething probs fixed and maybe a few practical mods done already.)

Welcome Peter. I think you can't go wrong with that model with 3 kids.

We just finished a month trip in Tassie with two kids (5 and 3), and i couldn't imagine doing it with a soft floor camper (been there done that). The expanda is a good thing:thumb:

With a CQ in the subject line, would you have anything to do with radio?
And I heartily agree with Antman. Best forum out there and after last weekend I have to double the statement!
