Hi all,
Probably should have come here first as I have already posted.
I have a wife 2 kids, 4 and 14 months and have been saving for our first Jayco. Yesterday we bought a Flamingo Outback at the Sydney show and are both excited about our decision and purchase. We are looking forward to getting out there during the holidays, and learning all we can about our new purchase and how to set it up. It will arrive at the end of July and I still have a little time to add some options, so any suggestions will be appreciated. As it stands it comes with a lifestyle pack which includes aerial, tv, dvd and speakers. It also comes with a solar panel, inverter and battery, fly ends, inner spring mattress and we purchased the annex walls. Any tips and set up options will be well received as we are both new to the game.

Thank you in advance

Welcome Les, although you have been around for a while. You sound very happy with your new purchase and keen to get out in the great beyond. I can't help you with things for a Flamingo as I went straight from soft floor camper trailer to a van but there are many members who can advise on all things Jayco camper.

July will be here very quickly. :bolt:

Would have loved to get the Expanda straight up, but finances are not there yet, small steps. As you mentioned July will be here in no time and we can't wait to hit the wide open road and explore this great country with the family.

Welcome Les. Had an OB Flamingo prior to our Expanda. Sounds like nice package. I'd recommend the Aussie Mate awning for the kitchen sink side of the van. I should be on a commission I've recommended them a few times today.
last saw advertised at $650. Think I paid $800'ish installed a few years back.

A useful mod when you get your van home would be to work out a way to stabilize your fly ends without the need for guy ropes front and back. A few of us have done it with earlier Expandas so it could be possible adapt and do something similar.
Eliminates a tripping hazzard for the young ones.

Welcome aboard neighbour :D Well almost, we're just over the big hill to the south of you, "Razorback"
good to see yor going to get your little ones out there camping, you'll certainlly have plenty of holidays to do it

We went from 2 campers, Eagle, Swan then Expanda. as have a few other members here.

One option I'd suggest you add if you can stretch the budget is the Hot Water Service and external shower, just so handy come wash was up time in the kitchen or hosing down the kids when they run a muck. And as you already have the solar it would just complete the package should you decide to bush/free camp.

Welcome Les and congrats. We were at the show on Sunday and saw a lot of people shaking hands with the dealers!
Hot water is a must have in my opinion. We had a very old jayco style camper for years with no hot water. Now we have the expanda, I cant imagine life without the hot water! External shower also an excellent addition.

Thanks Expanda, the aussie mate, is it something you could install yourself?
