I'm using a Bunnings chair leg tip, and comes in a pack of 2. Would be nice to have a proper fitting with a closing lid like the old 7 pin round trailer plug.

I think it was @Stone Stomper who used a rubber door stopper on his I think they cost only a few $$$
Yep I've used a rubber door stopper for ages, about .80c and they go up over the outside too so when you put your hand on out to twist the plug in or out it stays clean.

If you buy the fittings from from the plumbing supplies they come with a red stopper not dissimilar to that ebay gadget

I often thought it would be nice to put a wall mount one on the side of the van? Then you wouldn't be dicking around in dirt to connect up sometimes.

Door stop is the go
I was about to order the eBay cap and was in bunnings today to pick up a sausage in bread / sorry / few odds and ends and remembered the door stop suggestion. $1.20 for a stubbybbrown door stop. Fits perfectly! ($2.50 for the sausage!).
