Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone is usung one of the i phone fuel usage apps? which ones are good, i would like to more closely monitor my usage as on the last trip up the Oodnadatta i averaged around the 27 mark but i think it was actually a bit higher.... I also noticed that i get better power and economy with different tanks of fuel from different fuel companies, Caltex Vortex Diesel i think being the better one?
Any thoughts here?
Cheers:gossip:

there are a couple of ways you can do this:
buy a ODB Adaptor and use this software. (I have used, was good but I wanted something that was in the car permanantly)
buy a scangauge and install it. (I love it! its very accurate and you can monitor a lot of other things, Transmission Fluid Temp as an example on Autos)
or buy a cheap app something like this (haven't used but looks ok)

I use Road Trip for the iPhone
http://darrensoft.ca/roadtrip/
Simple to use just a calculator with a few other features really nothing too technical
Hey Bigman how is the wifi interface with dash command read a few reviews that said they weren't to impressed with the wifi and to spend the extra bucks for a cable

wasn't too bad, I only got it so I could use it with the Iphone. But it turned out to be a bit of a pain, i wanted to have the LPH visable all the time (even without the iphone) So I went with the Scangauge. I love it!! best money I ever spent!!

so Torque pro connects to your ECU via blue tooth to provide ongoing info including fuel, so fuelly, is that also working the same way?
Thanks

Right on the first count with Torque Pro connecting to the ECU via bluetooth. My OBD connection is not in the most convenient place so using it all the time is a pain. Fuelly on the other hand is web based and requires you to input the data with a very basic web app but I like the detail.

pen, paper and calculator is all i have ever used. Fill tank, take note of ltrs, klm's etc and work it out. Do that for the whole trip and get an average. Worked fine for the last 20 odd years.

did they hit you for an upgrade when they changed from km/litre to litres/100km or was it adaptable?
