So desperately sorry for anyone directly or indirectly affected by the fires in WA, SA or Vic and by those affected by floods in NSW.

A holiday affected by inconvenience is a small price to pay.

Those who have life changing damage...homes, livelihoods and emotional...we really feel for you.

We, in Qld, are remembering the 2011 floods, and the incredible life changing impact of those.

I admire and respect any volunteer and professional emergency service worker. May you continue to do great work.

Probably the best words we have seen here in an update on the Waroona/Harvey fire here in WA.....
UPDATED: 7:28PM
"There's some good news with the fire contained but still not controlled. The weather is also looking favourable."

Fingers crossed other states can get some similar positive updates.

I also have a great amount of respect for those CFA guys.
On our trip across to Adelaide Christmas Eve we noticed
a couple standing by the side of the road beside a small (at that time) grass fire.
Between Halls Gap and Dadswells Bradge.
By the time we spun around it was going up a gum tree.
We pulled the van up beside it I got the hose on to it and emptied my tank.
The first people had called CFA already,
But it had already started spotting in the paddocks and another Gum on the roadside, but I was out of water.

My son had already jumped the fence with 2 other blokes and was smacking the spots out with a towel.
Luckily the CFA guys turned up cause it was getting close to a line of trees and heading for the Grampians Nat Park.
The CFA guys thanked us and reckon it would've been a lot worse if we hadn't done what we did.

Now on a sour note got home yesterday and washed van I noticed bloody scorch marks on the side and a slightly
Melted fridge vent.
Not Happy Jan!!!
As they say $&!t Happens !!!
And we saved the National park.
I'd do it all again if I had to but next time I'll use a longer hose.

Well done @Delano, I dub thee an honorary firefighter.

Having been a RFS Volunteer for 38 years and a career firefighter for 34 years, from what I've seen many people would have just kept going.

A little fire can often be dealt with if jumped on quickly, but in the current weather conditions it doesn't take much to turn in to something like we have seen in WA, VIC and SA already (and summer isn't anywhere near over yet).
