Just purchased our first caravan. After looking at all kinds of rigs from camper trailers to kedron full offroad caravans we settled on a mid size touring rig. The Expanda is a second hand poptop less thank one year old and just ticked all the boxes, it is fully self contained with all the solar options, has a shower and toilet and the size and tare meant we could ealily tow with our current vehicle without any modifications. Also the big selling point was the price. We are excited and looking forward to planning our first trip. We live on the Fraser Coast Qld and would love to hear from any one who can reccomend some good holiday locations in the area

garfield, my parents live up that way (and we grew up there). They love Inskip point (as do we), you could also try woodgate, burrum heads, kennilworth homestead, charlie morelands (Kennilworth), jimna state forest, landcruiser mountain park, Toogoom. ummm mum and dad also go to a few out imbil and Kilkivan I think.

PS - congrats on your purchase

Congratulations on finding the perfect van and welcome to the forum. We have a number of members on the sunny coast so I'm sure you will get to hear of a lot of good spots.

Thanks for all the friendly replies. Sorry it has taken so long to respond but had a unplanned overseas trip.

We are really enjoying our van and have done several trips now to Maleney Glass House mountains, Kilkivan bush camp, Kennelworth state forest and Landcruiser state forest to name a few.

We are planning an extended trip in May for three months and taking my long service leave. Still have not planned all the details but want to take in Birdsville, Alice Springs, Uluru, McDonald Ranges, Kings Canyon then Darwin plus Katherine George, kakadu, down to Lawn Hill then across to the cape to meet up with other friends before heading home to Hervey Bay. I intend to do a regular Blog to monitor our trip.

I am investigating some modifications to our van and following with interest some of the other members posts. We had a leak in the roof of the pop top where the antenna penetrated the roof. This resulted in the paint flaking quite Badley. It was never sealed from the factory and fortunately Jayco have agreed to replace the entire roof under warranty
In particular I want to carry a generator and chainsaw so am looking at options for a box to go on the front however this would also mean a modified rear bar. My tow vehicle is a Nissan patrol so no issues with power, my only concerns are what this will do to the stability of the chassis. I will be postings as we progress
