Anyone have any plans during Christmas holidays esp kids school holidays?
I'm hoping my hubby can get a bit of time off, but there is also the weekends we can do two day trips that aren't too far.
We like going to ocean beach umina, up the central coast of nsw :)

No plans for the Christmas Holidays or the school holidays as such.... We are doing a week trip down south in December just before the holidays start and return back down that way for our annual two week get together at Busselton in February just as the kids go back to school :)

The joys of not having school aged kids anymore  :playball:
Might also see if we can get away for a couple of days nearby between Christmas and New Year depending on work!!!

Heading to Port Fairy for a couple of weeks over Xmas and New Years. Not really too early as you have to book in the previous year in a lot of coastal spots to secure a site :(
Looking forward to it tho! Love port fairy.

I will not know if I have forced break until a couple of weeks out. Last year I worked through.
So if I get forced to take Christmas off then have to organise between Sarah's shifts. I gather if we go it will be last minute we will be in the crappiest park that has room :)

Never too early to book your Christmas holidays. That was one of the first things I learnt with a van. Then if you find a great spot, for many parks it seems you have first dibs on the spot for the next year, so you have to book a year out if they let you, sometimes it will be 6-9 mths out.

Agree!
As we left the park on the 9th jan this year, we filled in the form to secure the same spot for this Christmas. Booking is in 7 day minimum blocks where we go, at the central coast also, we start on Boxing Day for 2 weeks.
People will say it's one of the worst times to travel with kids and people everywhere and also packed van parks. I agree, but we are in that group, with kids and school holidays. Added to that, it's the only time of the year that the wife and I get to have a guaranteed block of time off work together.
One if the things I look forward to is that we've had the same "neighbours" for the last 4 years and have built up a really great friendship.
And when I get on the PC later I might remember to put a picture of our "spot" you'll see why we don't want to lose it!

It's not just during holiday times that some sites/parks need to be booked 12 months ahead if you want the same site...
Our annual jaunt to Busselton starts the week after the xmas/school holidays end and hard to get the site wanted if not booked while staying!

One if the things I look forward to is that we've had the same "neighbours" for the last 4 years and have built up a really great friendship.
Know what you mean @mbr37746 ... We have got to know and keep in touch with at least 8 or 9 couples that are "neighbours" on the same sites each year over the past 8 years. And who knows how many others in sites around the park?..... Including a salesman from our local Jayco dealer ;)
