Hi Guys,

We have had our van for about a month now and just wondering if anyone drinks water from their tanks ? Ours has a horrible taste in it. More like a plastic taste. In our old aussie swag camper trailer we could drink from the tank and never had this problem and i really don't want to be haveing to carry bottled water with us all the time . Does it settle down after a while ?

Cheers

Trish

The best way is to fill the tanks with 4lt vinegar and water leave for a day or two then rinse and make sure you have a drinking water hose (not from bunnings) also a good idea is add a water filter.

Our first van an 09 Dove, the water quality was equally as good as from the kitchen sink at home, but our current van has also has a horrible taste, but we think it was just the bad water quality from the location we picked it up from, even though we have drained both tanks twice it is slowly getting better each time we use it.

I think Jayco use a different tank in the Expanda's 90lt and 60lt in the campers as we also never had an issue with our Eagle, I mentioned the bad taste to Jayco when we first got the Expanda and they said it was the hose but it was the same one from the Eagle.

When I ordered a third tank from them and picked it up before I installed it I smelt the inside of the tank and it was enough to make you puke so it's the tanks they use on Expanda's but the vinegar fixes it well.

We also kept the original hose, so we knew it wasn't the hose causing the bad taste, if things don't improve after this weekend I'll certainly give the vinegar ago

Strange how some get it and one don't! I fill our tanks with the crap garden hose and have the BEST filter plumbed in underneath in the sink tap line only (cold).....water tastes fine.
