Evening everyone, We brought our daughter a dick smith 22" tv for xmas, and when unpacking it to set it up for her discovered, it runs a reducer from 240v to 12v to run the tv.funny thing is when i asked the shop staff if they had any tv's that would run on 240v and 12v they said they didn't sell them (might nominate him for shop assistant of the month i think). My question is has anyone else purchased one of these tv's and managed to get a lead for it that plugs into a lighter socket to run it on straight 12v.

What does the connection on the back look like?

Some of the tv's have a standard DC connection on the back.

Mine had one of these....

We got a 15 " GVA from Good Guys oringinally for the kitchen but now lives in the van.it came with a 12v lead as well, though I had one I got from Jaycar Electrics

The answer is yes you can. Go onto eBay and look under 12volt tv lead and you will see a lead with changeable end plugs. That's the one you need and are only around $18.00. I have one and it works a treat.

Yep Jaycar are the go, take the tv connection with you. I went in there for our tv and they have the 12v lighter sockets with multiple connections that will suit a variety of different 12v connections.

All sorted went down to Jaycar this afternoon and bought one of the adapters,young sales assistant said I was the third person in the store today looking for the adapter.$35 and comes with 7 different style of plugs.

Good stuff diesel, they've got some good gear in there, from serious stuff to stuff for big kids. Until I went in there to get my lead I had no idea how many interesting things they had in there.
