We got the Safety Dave reverse camera setup, they are very helpful swapped over our cable as once we got the van too short.
Crash cams be interested myself.. Been looking and the HD, movement recording with GPS seems to be good. Seen them cheap like $30 although video quality would be crap. Main problem I have is do not want to run the wire from the cig lighter rather wire it in.

Mmmmm, avoiding that wire from dash Cam to 12 volt would be nice. Recently looked at a brand called GATOR, currently on sale in local Auto shop, full HD, takes SD CARDS, motion sensor, night vision, GPS an quite compact

Do a search there is a thread on this subject. Suffice to say cheap usually is. You can't get away from having a wire running to it though, the battery doesn't last very long on most of them.

Well I stand corrected !!!!!!...just did a search for Dash cams as I was sure their was a thread on them but no luck....................My all singing and dancing Dash Cam died, 13 mths old ,thankfully for some reason I actually got an extended warranty, I think he threw it in to do the deal,so that meant I just rocked up to Harvey Norman and got another one, this time a really flash job.
It pings speed cams, tells speed zones and some other stuff as well.
This one doesn't get as hot as the other unit and is a lot easier to use while the picture isn't too bad on the laptop as usual the software thats provided is just rubbish.
Anyway it's a Navig8r Navcam Pro and sticks onto the w/screen, no suction cup and comes with a mile of cable which is great most have about 2 ft.
See how this one goes over the next few weeks but I do think you have to spend the dollars to get something that is reasonably decent whether its a dash cam, rear view or reverse cam the cheap stuff usually doesn't come up to par.
I'm not one to fiddle with the stuff, I like to set and forget, no ginning around.

I've just installed 2 x Blackvue DR650gw 2 channels in our Jeep and daughters car, a little on the pricey side ($450 each online) but definatly worth it for what you get. You can also purchase a power magic pro ($50 online) which is hard wired under your dash and can operate the camera for an extended period of time after the ignition is switched off, this function has an auto cutoff to avoid a flat battery ( 11.8 volts) and is mainly used for sensitivity monitoring, once the system senses motion it will automatically start recording. Good for shopping centre car parks

as you can see clearly takes a bit of getting used to but well worth it.
all so swap between them when driving to see the front of van beeing splatted with mud.

I purchased a complete in dash PC unit with mapping (OziExplorer and Satnav) DVD, radio, Internet etc etc,and it also has both reverse and dash cameras as well.

Have a look at Brash Imports (http://www.brashimports.com.au) Aussie company with really good local support.

Especially good for those of us with older vehicles and like to upgrade to a touch screen unit that fits like factory fitted.

I would really like one of those in dash with everything units, it's the putting it in that fills me with dread, I hate dashwork. My luck I would then decide to sell the damn vehicle soon after.....

Putting into my 100 Series took about 15 minutes - 4 screws, uplug the old plug in the new, and it was in.

A mate with a Pajero however needed to get it professionally installed as it required relocation of aircon control etc, so I guess it depends on the vehicle.
