Cushions splitting

Our club lounge seat cushions are starting to split open along the seam that joins the front thigh support cushion to the main seat section.

Two of the three are stretching out the seam, the third has split open and come apart completely.

The thigh support section of the cushion overhangs the base, and the splitting seam is very close to that overhang, so that seam would be under constant pressure, like an unsupported fold allowing the thigh support to fold down way to much for the seam on top to cope.

Seeing how they are sewed together, its no surprise they are splitting.

I suspect we're seeing a dramatic failure because were been using it constantly for 150 days straight.

Short of redesigning our cushions or extending the seat base, it will be a repeat event if they simply replace the cushions.

Is it the poor stitching or the bare skin that sits on them? :bolt:

But on a serious note (for once ;) ) do your seats slide forward when used for a while and it may be stressed by the overhang?
Reason I ask is that our last expanda with a lounge did, even with the velcro tabs but the stitching didn't come apart! (But our longest trip was only 15 days!

I would argue "natural" seating would reduce seam stress.

The cushions dont slide forward, i used some really wide HD velcro tape under them

Thanks for the reminder... need to do that to the dinette!
Sounds like your issue is with the Jayco quality cotton!
Call Jayco and see if they'll fix out of warranty.... Just tell them it's been used for short weekend trips only

Ours split in our expanda and jayco wouldn't fix only a few months outside warranty so get it done @Crusty181 . The good lady fixed it up a treat on the sewing machine though. The stitching is not strong enough and when you kneel on the cushion to get into the overheads it does the damage I recon.

Sydney. Northern Beaches.
Ours split also......agree, once you inspect the stitching and fabric it's hard to believe they don't all fail.

We repaired ours ourselves.
Happy with the results. :cheer2:
With the leftover fabric we made a dinette/ bed converter.

Ours all split as well. I think it is to do with the design, having the extra bolster section at the front . As already said above, ours also slide forward when you set on them putting more stress on the seam. Jayco have replaced all of ours.

Cheers
