Ahhhh my area, the brown mountain is fine, it had collapsed last year but has been rebuilt now, there is a really nice look out At the top of the mountain, pipers lookout, beautiful on a clear day, once you get get to bega it now has a by pass so you can call in or go straight down the coast to merimbula/Eden and down through to Victoria, if you decide to head batemans bay way at the bottom of the mountain, there are heaps of pretty little towns along the way, you can either follow the coast which is a narrowish windy road but not to bad, or you can follow the highway all the way up the coast, we do a lot of self contained camping almost every weekend so if you want some info on particular spots let me know.

thanks for that info, we'll be heading over to Tathra for a few days (Frankie's place) if it comes together before heading home via the coast, Haven't been to Bega for several years, definately no bypass back then.

We spend a lot of time in tathra but free camping on the river, head out to wallagoot when your here, great prawing as the NPWS reseeded the lake, but mind you the amount of people that go there, turns it into a little night city. when you head down to Victoria just over the boarder there is a place called wallagaraugh river retreat, great little place on the river, it's about 10kms in, Mallacoota is about 1/2 hour further down the road, there is also a little day pinic area which is on the river and beach, another favorite, on the other side of Eden on the nullica river, we camp there quite a bit, a lot of people do, don't be put of by the no camping sign, there has only been a one lot of people kicked out about 3 years ago, (according to the locals). Bega has changed quite a lot over the past few years, and a lot more progression to come, it was bound to happen, couldn't keep the secret to,ourselves for to long. Hope you have a ball in our beautiful valley.

Thanks for the info :thumb:

Naturally no trip to that region would be complete without a trip to the Cheese Factory;)
