Came across a clothesline installed between the arms of an awning that I thought others might find of interest. The van owner bought a DIY kit from RV Towing Solutions < http://rvtowingsolutions.com.au/products/d-i-y-smart-line >. He also had an over the door clothes hangar (from Woolies I think) that clipped onto the side of his van. Had mounting points on each side of the van so that the hangar could be moved to follow the sun.

Saw those at a show though they were a bit expensive a mate made one buy the bits from Bunnings
Currently use a peg less cloths line between the awning arms though it tends to sag a bit with the weight, now have to make it longer when the new van finally arrives.

I copied this one on our van using a turnbuckle one end to tension the line and to loosen it for removal. I just had a hook at both ends with brackets pop riveted into the awning arms.
Hi @chartrock , clever mod. I was in Bunnings today and saw most of the bits and pieces you used. I'm always surprised at the price difference between zinc plated and stainless products. Looking at the photo, it looks like you used a length of wire rope. Do you think that's better (less sag maybe?) than the plastic coated line? I also noticed in your photo what looked like a velcro type strap around the awning arm. The van I saw with the clothesline also had one. Is it used to secure the awning arm when travelling?

G'day @Curryhouse. When I said I copied this one, that photo was the one I copied from. I did not take any pics of my one and now it is all folded away awaiting (hopefully) a new buyer. The one I made is all stainless, turnbuckle, wire, hooks and brackets. I had wire left over from doing a deck and fence for our daughter so it was just a matter of a few extra pieces. Shame I have to sell it with the van as it will be too short for our new one. :apologetic:

I have seen the velcro straps you mention on other vans and they are there to ensure the awning stays in position while travelling.

here's a few quick pics.. this idea I came up with after looking at cam lock arms thinking "hmm what else could I use these for......." anyway, I now use them as tensioners on my guide ropes and washing line. works a treat. also attached a pic of one of the heavy duty tent pegs I use on my guide ropes :)

I like the tensioner bit, we tie our line just to the arms and by the time 3 wet towels and cossies ect ect ect get hung on it, it droops nealy to the ground. Barney

If the towels are real wet we throw them over those horizontal arms and put a peg below them. They'll hold the weight no worries :)
