We've been taking advantage of the knowledge on this amazing forum for years... the wife and I thought it was time we got off our backsides and actually put something back in!

[Should note we're not the most attentive of internet people... please don't feel ignored if we take forever to respond to anything... we will eventually resurface]

Family is me, the wife and 2 little girls (6 & 3 this year).
Finally picked up our new 19.61-3 OB model yesterday after a 6 month wait - our second Jayco. Last one was a 17.58-3 OB and was amazing.

Back story... after 10 years of tents and borrowing other peoples vans finally took the plunge on the 17.58.
Thought it seemed like a great value van, and it was. It was so good that after a 3 week road trip last year down to Victoria we decided to take the plunge and buy a full van. Endless shopping around and we ended up right where we started... back at Jayco. The 19.61-3 was a brand new layout and it was like Jayco had reached into our heads and made it precisely to suit us. Everything we wanted tweaked from the 17.58 was just like we wanted and everything we wanted the same was still there!

Only issue was we sold the 17.58 way too fast and have had to live vanless for 5 months.....

So - the 19.61 - its the -3 so has the two bunks at the back for our two rug rats. we optioned:
Extended drawbar
Ibis A/C upgrade
150W solar panel
Pull out pantry
the flash digital control panel
3 way table / bed converter

And of course the outback pack.

Picked it up from Jayco Goldcoast. Same mob we bought the 17.58 from originally and they did a great job both times.

Off for a quick shakedown tonight, then off to Aratula in a couple of weeks, then Cotton tree for Easter.

6 week roadtrip already locked into the leave calendar for September to give the new van a real good workout. (NSW / VIC / TAS / SA). Ferry booked and paid for tas so I can forget the price by the time we get there.....

Welcome to the forum @Cfcaravan, great intro as well. Seems like you have hit the jackpot with your new van and have it set up the way you want. Your planned trips also sound like you have had them in mind for a while. We will expect a lot of pics after the trips and no matter how good you find the van you will think of mods to make some improvements. Enjoy new van.

Gyday,

Great to hear your very happy with the new van , it looks great in the pics! We have just ordered one and like yourself , we are upsizing from the 17.58.3. If it wasn't for the 19 layout we would have been perfectly happy with the 17 until our two girls (7-9) outgrew it.
Sounds like you have a great trip planned, we absolutely love tassie but haven't been since kids came along. Last time I priced it with van we ran a mile and went to the rock instead.
Wish ya safe n happy travels!!!

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Pauly you guys won't know yourself when you get it. Feels like an unbelievable step up to us from the 17.59.

First night in the van last night was fantastic, everything we'd hoped for. Free camped and can't believe how warm it stayed in the van. So used to the tents and pop top being 'climate controlled'....whatever the climate outside being the climate inside.

Welcome you have a great looking caravan. Just wondering when you ordered the van you were able to get a pull out pantry? Is it just in the top one? Enjoy your family adventures cfcaravan

Hi Bridgetw19 - yes the pull out pantry was done in the factory. We actually added it to the build part way through. It's in the top one only - bottom one has the wheel arch sticking into it and they weren't keen to do a pullout there. I figured I'd get round to putting a modified one into the bottom cupboard at some point in the distant future so didn't bother pushing the issue.
