Hi Guys,
Took out our new to us 16.67-1 Starcraft for its maiden camping trip for the last 9 days & have found that it has a huge amount of internal storage, but i am trying it to work out how others have packed their Weber outside the caravan as I don't really want to store it inside the van under the double bed?
Was thinking of mounting a tool box on the drawbar but not sure as our spare is mounted in the drawbar & needs to be removed through the top.
Are my only options to -
1. Get a rear bar made up & relocate the spare tyre so that I can fit a tool box to the front
2. Get a toolbox & mount the spare tyre in front of it
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers Dale

A lot of people mount the spares on the back with the expandas. If you do a search, you will see how. (Ours is being done in a couple of weeks. ) that leaves the front free for a box where the BBQ,hoses, etc can go.
I'm with you......don't like the BBQ in the van.

We kept the weber under the bed and yes its a pain. is it a standard drawbar? you could get a toolbox in the front only one gas bottle, we had two hence I kept thinking of a cheaper way :) As a Starcraft you could go a higher toolbox then a lot of people use for expandas.
Have to relocate the Tap as well.

As its a touring I would think you have to re enforce the rear bumper if you want to put the spare there.

Yes I think that I would like to get a larger tool box to mount the Weber & the Gas Bottle (sectioned off, vented & labelled), just need to work out how i can attach the spare tyre. Easy enough to move the tap back a bit so that the Tool Box will fit so it doesn't sit to far forward.
Yes it is a standard drawbar - space is a bit of a premium !

We've picked up a strong plastic box and put a couple of pieces of angle iron on draw bar. The box holds the Weber and ramps, chocks etc and, while it won't last forever, it has lasted for over 12 months and over 18,000 kms.

It fits in behind the stone protector, between the two gas bottles and has to be opened before we drop the front bed but it travels fine and is strapped down tightly. The Weber has always been stored in two cut down polystyrene trays ...vegetable trays...and they fit in the plastic box so the a Weber doesn't move in transit.

We decided on this as we felt a custom made tool box was too heavy and we were conscious of draw bar weight.

My Expanda had a factory side hatch that open into the buffet cupboard inside, the Baby Q fitted in there "just' with the lid removed which did became a P.I.A so most time would just stick it in the car but then the rattle would drive me nuts,
With the current van it fits nicely in front boot of van either by the side hatch (just) usually just lift it in the front hatch, no rattles in the car.

Here's our setup @DLT ... But as @davemc said "You'll need a strengthened rear bar". Others have fitted under vehicle spare wheel winches under their vans (Another option for you!)

The wheel holder is a drop down one but you should be able to get away with a fixed version if you go down that track!

Good looking Set up
We don't have a rear bar at all so if i go down that path i will get one made up to cope with the weight.
I was trying to steer away from mounting it underneath as the ground clearance / departure angle is pretty poor already - think that i might be doing a spring over sooner rather than later!
Cheers

Ours lives inside the van under the cafe dinette in a weber duffle bag.

Will most likley relocate it into the front toolbox when I get around to fitting it.

Thanks mfexpanda,
I might steal your idea, at least for the meantime.
A tool box just to store the Weber in is starting to get a bit more expensive that i had hoped for with having to either get a rear bar made or get the drawbar modified to have a vertical spare tyre mount welded in.
Cheers
