Hi All, haven't been on for a while, but been hanging around on the sidelines, I've been busy building the new landing pad for the Expanda that we are due to pick up on the 19th June. I know a lot of you have built some pretty awesome sheds etc for your toys unfortunately we can't due to council regs. Can any of you recommend a brand of soft caravan cover we can use to cover our van, I was looking at the Prestige but found some adverse feedback on other sites and I'm now considering maybe a Maxi brand cover due to it's heavier construction (420 denier). Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time
Dave

I use a Coast to Coast RV cover. (<$300) In it's second year and no problems at all. Just put it on again yesterday (see pic) note that it is not fully strapped/tied down yet, as the front lawn is sodden and I hate getting wet and muddy. Padded, breathable. No condensation issues. Zipper access. Two person job to put on, one to get off, two to roll up and pack away. The 20' size fits the 18.57-7 nicely.

Xpandafan what is that on top of your spare wheel??
Saw the Alert, and thought you were going to offer to crawl under the van in the wet and mud for me!
That's actually my folding platform ladder. Makes it easier for Mrs XF to get to the awning and bed end flys and clean the windows, now we've raised the panda a bit. Also has a cushion that ties on top to make bench seat (a Mrs XF mod).

We purchased ours off Ebay after recommendations from this forum and compared it to our parent's Prestige cover. The Ebay cover won hands down!

Interesting what you say about council regs. I have heard of people who have submitted a pergola to council. But once approved and built, used it to house a boat. I don't see the difference.

I also got the same brand as andrea listed in the link above. I live about 300mtr from a surf beach so we get heaps of salt spray etc and also rain which we seem measure by the meter in the last few years and it has held up very well. The van is always spotless when I take the cover off. Good value for the price.

I like the look of these, especially the awning type acsess to the van.
Coast brand.
Also, im going to get a caravan cover instead of a pop top cover so I can leave pop top up while covered

image.jpg I purchased a 20-22 18-20ft Prestige brand cover from BCF on special for just over $200 last week. First time user of a van cover and pretty happy with the way it fits the 18.57-6.

Edit: After seeing a couple of images of the Unearth brand, I think I've ended up buying a Prestige box with an Unearth cover in it. The box had been previously opened, but as it was the last of the correct size on the shelf, took the gamble that all was ok with it. There isn't any brand name on the cover or storage bag!
