Looking for a campground in the Canberra area to spend a night or two with my 18ft Discovery.
Want to go mountain bike riding at Mount Stromlo and need somewhere close by. I do not want to go to a caravan park.

Saw Cotter Dam on the net, has anyone stayed there??

BigSkiddy, I have never stayed at the cotter camp ground, but always drive past it on way to the brindabella's. It looks good. I think there is a fee. Stromlo is just back up the hill from there aswell.
There are always vans at exhibition park (not officially a caravan park).
Cheers

Try this http://www.tams.act.gov.au/parks-re...ping_in_the_act/woods_reserve_recreation_area, I was going to woods reserve this weekend, but other commitments have come up, so I can't tell you how good they are, wiki camps reviews are pretty good. Just don't stay at riverside caravan park Queanbeyan, we booked ahead and still ended up having to stay on the road in the park, no water/power, cause some clown decided to take our spot, and park manager couldn't sort it out,

We had book at riverside CP back in 2011 to take our van back to the dealer. The day we were menat to arrive it flooded they never bothered to call to say dont come, guess they were a little pre occupied, luckly i had seen it on the news that morning.

Oh all ways vans at Exibition Park, it's a showground with power/water.

Thanks everyone. I might try Cotter Dam and if no good head back to Exhibition Park.
Heck there's always the car park for Stromlo itself I guess.

Just need to get down there before it gets too cold. Thinking in between Easter and Anzac Day.

Did a day trip to Mt Stromlo and checked out Cotter Campground. Looks okay with big gravel sights for vans.
