Its a coolish 18 here today and your pics are tempting me to dig out the old bush cooker but reality sets in, only two of us now and without the tribe around to share it with its lost the magic ................ end up with enough tucker to last us a month..... It looks bluddy good Bluey...

I like the heat beads idea...

Will have to wait till I get down south and collect a few bunnies, I do like Bunny in the camp oven ........ only got Dingos and Hares up here and they taste crap... once I sort something out I may experiment with the heat beads and do a lamb shank in the oven, trouble is I can't drink that amount of beers now like I used to when the oven was in action, so might have some problems with the recipe....................... suppose you would want pics as well..

Winter has pounced upon us here, 9c this morning I nearly put long pants on but I decided to stay in bed until things warmed up.................. It did inspire me to pull out the camp oven, not the 40 yr old big pot but this nice med/small job I found last tour, it was sorry looking covered in mud with no handle that I found in the long grass, a good clean up with river gravel, oiled and chucked in the fire it has come up rather grand and with a new handle fitted might just about to be ready for a stew ...... In the fullness of time ....IMG_20240603_111823.jpg

Ha, I made a loaf of bread, used my bread oven to knead the dough, put the dough in the camp oven which I sat in the house oven, had baked a cake earlier so was perfect for the dough to rise then put the whole thing on the Weber, 35 ins later, yummy bread which surprised me as I thought it would be a dud, got distracted so forgot to take a pic before I put it in the freezer after a taste test , so next time as this will certainly happen again, might have some heat beads and do it on the fire pit though the Weber is certainly easier than stuffing around with a fire...
