We are a family of 4, and are looking at 14.44.4 outback, we need to get the back bunks extended by 150 mm for our teenage kids + plus outside shower etc, is it better to buy second hand to save money then get extra's done or order straight from jayco? what have other's done? So l guess we are asking the same questions. steve

You could ask Jayco if they will remove the storage units on each end to make the bed longer but i doubt they will, no cost in asking.

Otherwise you'll have to make the mods yourself, & get a custom mattress made.

I haven't looked closely at mine but I think those end storage units form a lot of the strength of the bunk bed unit, if you take them away be very careful in how you replace that lost strength otherwise the top bunk may fall on the bottom bed

Yes thanks for that, l have spoke to jayco about removing storage units at base of bed, no problem with removing one end at a small cost. but all those extra's do add up quick.
