Has anyone had any experience buying a van from a different state, the van looks great , spoken to the owners over the phone , got freight quotes , but still really unsure about handing over money and not being able to tow it away? Do I spend 5-600 bucks on flights to look and meet , not really sure , bit of advice anyone?

As a seller next month, I would want to meet the person and for them to physically look at the van. There are two many scams both ways these days

Yep it can be a funny world out there.

Personally I would want to see / touch it before anything else.

But I like road trips!!

You only just got it didn't you? What are you getting , did you do a spring over or did jayco do it,the guy reckons this ones 18 foot had it custom made , my father in laws got a 17 ft disco , and its 500mm longer than his , I know this because my mate measured it for transport cost

Probably a starcraft if it fits on the sites we go to regularly but won't be till next year :)!

So his is longer than 500mm??

That sounds weird!

I measured my father in laws from the very end to very front( this is what transport company req for loading) and it measured 7210mm , my mate in Melbourne measured the new one the same way ( accurately I hope) and got 7690mm , so not sure , couldn't see jayco making the body bigger , maybe the drawbar but they'll only do 300mm, when it gets here I run the tape over and compare

I would say drawbar and rear bar?

She looks great!!

I can't see the front but to me it doesn't look like the drawbar is extended as its to close to the car.

And looking internally it all looks to be the same sizing of cupboards so can't say where the extra dimensions would go?

well after a 3 week wait the vans finally here ,and its in as good or better condition than i expected , couldnt wait to use it so i raced out and fitted an anderson plug and a couple of deep cycle batteries and headed out bush for a coupla nights ,so much more storage than the 16/49/3 ,we've got a heap of space left over, only thing was hitch height ,i;ve got a 2'' lift in the triton ,the old panda was an out back ,with bigger rubber, extended spring hangers and it sat really well behind the tug ,but the disco is a fair bit lower and i had to fab up a drop down hitch ,so a spring over is in order, also need to build a rear bar ,its got nothing ,spares mounted to the van itself at the rear ,was it worth the hassle of buying interstate? for us yes ,we couldnt find a second hand 17/55/5sh in WA ,we've been looking for about 6 months ,a new one in wa with no options $42 000 non ob,we sold the old panda for $33 000 ,brought the new one for $31000 and it cost us $3000 to get it from melbourne to kambalda wa (to our door), so a $1000 was pretty good to get the van we always wanted, now let the mods begin, Expanda if you get the time could you run a tape over yours and we'll compare ,i dont think its any bigger ,away for a coupla weeks so i cant measure mine!
