Finally I've managed to get around to posting this after doing a 4 week business trip to China and Thailand.
So I took my new Weber Q 220 on its maiden voyage to Halls Gap over the Melbourne cup weekend.
It worked a treat on steaks, buffalo wings, bacon and eggs, and even a double roast of pork and lamb.
Anyway, on the Sunday , after cooking up the roast. I shut the lid of the Q and let it cool down before packing it up for the night.
At about 10 pm a windstorm kicked up and it got pretty bad. While I was pulling the awning in, the wind managed to lift up the lid of the Weber, and throw it open with enough force to tear it straight off the base!
As you can see , one hinge has come away at the lid, the other at the base.
I contacted Weber and sent these photos in, so let's see what they have to say.
Interestingly when speaking to customer assistance, I told them the lid had broken off. Before I mentioned the wind, she asked me if the wind had caught it. I guess from this that I'm not the first to have had this happen.
Hopefully Weber will come to the party so I don't have to get into arguments such as whether an outdoor appliance is actually fit for purpose if it can't cope with wind etc.
I'll let you all know how I go.
