Burning smell/hot battery.

pluged in the expander yesterday to give the battery a charge as i do every month,went into van today and was greated by a bad burning smell,tracked it to battery box which was very warm.Battery is about 5 years old,is there a way of checking the seatec unit before i put in a new battery,dont want to kill the new battery.

I think I would take it to an Auto sparkie and get it checked to be safe

I would also remove the battery and put it on a decent charger outside. If it gets really hot, fair chance it has dropped a cell and needs replacing.
