Hi, we have just purchased a 17-56-2 Outback with bunks. We have a 6 month old. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of a netting system we could use on the bottom bunk to keep baby secure?
Cheers Ossie

Ps our first couple of trips we have put the main table down and put the porta cot on top of the seats. That worked well but obviously we want to utalise the bunk. Our 2 year old sleeps in the double.

Not netting idea as such, but two of our babies have grown up in the (17 56 2, like yours) expanda, and we slept both of them until about 8 mths old in a bassinet. During the day/evening, they'd sleep in it placed on our bed; draw curtains for dark; small 12v fan hooked from hockey bar for air circulation if hot.
When it was time for us to go to bed, we'd put the bassinet on the couch next to our QS bed end. Really easy for feeds or if they stir during the night bc could take them out or settle them as required by leaning over couch back.. Didn't even have to get out of bed, and they were comfy and safe too.
Once they grew out of the bassinet, we used the spare dinette cushion standing upright against the same couch (as in from floor to table-top) with a duffle bag wedged to the other couch base to keep the bottom of the cushion firmly in place. The cushion top sits just higher than the dinette table top which it leans hard against, which keeps the top of the cushion very secure. This creates a great little three sided 'cot' that still gives our 2yo ample comfy room to sleep safe & secure all night. We tuck a cot sheet over a fairly thick fluffy blanket on to the couch 'cot mattress' for softness .
Takes 3 minutes max to 'convert' it, so is quick, easy & comfy. If it's done while she's still awake, our 3&1/2 yo often wants to sleep in her little brother's 'special bed'.
Can take a photo if that will explain it more easily!?!
We usually let Mr 2-year-old go to sleep in our bed while we're still up, and we just transfer him into it his makeshift 'cot' once we 're done for the night and finished with the couch.
As per your two year old, he's now wanting more and more to sleep with the 3 & 7 yo 'big kids' in the double bed end, so we didn't use it as much this last summer. Having said that, it's served us easily and well for the last 3 years, & for no cost or hassle.
None of this uses the lower bunk as such, as per your question, but our team love hanging out in their 'little cave' where the lower bunk converter is; it gets regular evening kid-use as a game/drawing/play table, leaving the big table free for other use.

Hope this might help. All the best, whatever you decide, and happy caravanning with your little team of happy makers!! :)
