Hi Guys, Has anyone been to the Brisbane Caravan & Camping Show that is on this weekend?
Looking at going on Sunday but wondering if it is worth it?
I saw some pricing from the Melbourne Show from this forum & Jayco are starting to price themselves pretty high, would love to know what sort of discount people are getting off the sticker price, would be nice to go in armed with that info.
Cheers DLT

We went on Thursday....very very busy.

Had a brief chat with Jayco and I'd guess the discount, negotiating room is about $1500, depending on the extras.

The add ons seem to be the mark up margin they can move on.

If you want a 16.49.3 OB we will have one for sale as we're looking to change.

So our visit to the show was far more expensive than we anticipated.

Not finalised as yet but it's a toss up between buying now, at current prices or waiting till next year.

We're not in a hurry once we've settled on the specs themselves but we won't be needing a van till mid next year and it seems silly to rush into a final decision for it to sit in the shed for a year.

Decision time ...tomorrow, probably, as the show specials end then.

In the meantime I'm thinking of completely emptying our beloved ...never know what I might find!

I'll let you know what we've chosen later.

Well we've now cleared out half the van.

The pantry was interesting....7 UHT milk and the missing coffee pods...only 23 of those.

If we decide not to sell at least we'll have lightened the load somewhat and our calcium intake is looking to improve.

I will be honest, i was quite disappointed with the show this year. Yes there were a LOT of vans so great if you are looking to purchase or upgrade (wish the bank balance would allow that!)... but there was stuff all in the way of accessories.
Guess will have to wait and go to the 4wd, camping, boating show in March next year. Oh well, hopefully the bank balance can grow a little by then and not shrink!

Like you @Bmhdg76, I was not overly impressed with the show. Sure, there was a lot of vans, camper trailers an motor homes but if you weren't shopping for a new van then there was not a lot to see. I bought a tow ball scale for $40 and the lunch for two cost nearly as much. :faint:

Totally agree!

We didn't find any new toys but thought it was us getting sidetracked.

I love digging around for new ideas...or finding stuff that confirms our existing ideas.

But we found only one place ....and same as, same as.

Went in & had a quick look around this afternoon, but only had a couple of hours.
Must say that i was pretty impressed with the range of family vans there.
Pretty sure that it won't be Jayco who will be getting my dollars next time around as i found a couple of vans that i like that felt like they were a lot better built.
Its a pity as i have had a great time in the 2 that i have had, but if i am spending that sort of money i am going to be a lot pickier than i have been with the second hand ones that we have had.

Definitely agree about the family type vans. I loved some of the new black with color rims on a lot. I would love to have $60k as there were a few I would be happy to drive away with. Parking was bloody hard. We were lucky as I won the entry tickets on their Facebook page on Friday.

We didn't take the car....would have killed for it late in the day...but got the train home, along with the drive after the train.

Completely knackered after that.

It's completely confusing these shows unless you know what you're looking for and where they are.

But, like us, I guess it's possible to stumble on something you'd never heard of. Maybe that's a plus but I'm never sure.

Took the train as well, it came free with pre-purchased tickets. Car would have been a burden, one car park outside the venue had a sign out for show parking $25. :o

I'd have happily paid for that.

Just didn't have the car. It was at the train station.

Free train travel though......but I'm still over it. I reckon we walked about 5 kms we didn't anticipate, got lost more often than not, couldn't find the toilets....found I'd walked past two before I finally found one.

The Moreton Bay figs hide them....at least from me.

I must be mad as I'm contemplating going back tomorrow, just so we can make a decision. My bet is it's a 'no' as I don't think we can face it.

We parked at the RBH parking and was $12.30 ($12.00 Parking $0.30 credit card fee - Even though there was no other way to pay!). However, weekday it would be $35!!!

We went today, drove in paid $10 for parking across the rd from site and RBH walked around, found the site is hopeless and disjointed for this type of show. Only purchased 1 big ticket item that being a Kedron van umbrella as it was pouring cost me $10. Would of liked a few things for the Prado but bank account is restricted currently until we finish a few home reno's and appointment with accountant.
