Hi again

I have brought a expanda which has the break away unit fitted.
Question is I have read that by law you now need a in cab monitor fitted to the tug

will this puppy do the job http://camec.com/camec-remote-battery-monitor.html and will it wire in the the unit I have In my van 6000XP breaksafe

G'day @23chris, I think you may find the answer in the first 2 features statement on their web page.

• Camec will not warrant the product if used in conjunction with any other Break Away System
• The electronic circuitry in the Camec Remote Battery Monitor Part #041764 has been designed to work specifically with the Camec Break Away System Part #040119 only

I don't think the Jayco units are Camec ones.

Mate, there are no "dick" questions, we all have to learn as we go and if you hadn't asked you may have spent (and wasted) hard cash. The unit in my van is the one shown in @Bellbirdweb 's post but in Qld we don't need them, it's a NSW requirement.

Also have the same Tow-Secure unit as @Bellbirdweb and the good thing with it is that it also alarms when the pin is removed from the switch.

If the stereo is turned up so loud you can't hear/notice the van has come off and parked itself on the highway you have to wonder what diff the beeping will make. Hahaha

This is what you need I think..http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6668 ......and after reading this http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/help-brakes.php .........I suppose all that is really needed to comply is a small digital volt meter which would wire up to the cable from the van unit which on mine is in the wiring harness to the tug..........but since I'm in QLD not only do I pay cheaper rego I don't need to have a monitor but may look into it anyway.

I have that one in my tug. Had Jayco Sydney fit it as they wouldn't let me drive the van off the site without it. I think it was $200 fitted.
