Hi Expanda Crew.
Looong time watcher of the forums. Finally put pen to paper today at the Melbourne show. Gone for the 17.56-1 outback. Few accessories
- Show special (tv, tv ext outlet, windup antenna, full stereo with bluetooth and external speakers etc)
- extended draw bar
- full annexe with 2 doors with flyscreens and two windows
- ESC
- external shower and hot water service.
- picnic table
- extra kitchen powerpoint
- control panel

The long wait begins! Apparently June. Now to look at a bigger tow vehicle- the kluger won't do it. 4 kids so need a 7-seater. Suggestions? Looking second hand $40k.
Cheers!

Hi @Matho, welcome to the forum. Great van choice and stacks of good options there too. In terms of a tow vehicle upgrade you could stick with the Toyota theme and swap the Kluger for a Prado. We tow a 17.56-2 OB with our Prado. Great all round capable vehicle to solve your 7 seat issue too. Just have to keep an eye on the weight as you could be getting close to your tow capacity once fully loaded with water, food and gear.

congrats.. with the car yes 7 seats narrows you down a bit.
If you want a split rear seat for shopping the Patrol, Pajero and Territory have fixed 3rd row.. Although a little bit of space behind the 3rd row on a Territory. You have to go AWD Territory to get 2700 towing.
Check which ones have airbags in the 3rd row or even 2nd row.
as your looking around $10k more then me :)
Prado 2500 which the OB 17-56 could go past or close to....
Challenger 3000
Pathfinder 3000
New or almost new Colorado7 or MUX 3000

We have a Land Rover D3 although petrol model, for diesel you get 08-09 with 100k on clock for $40k .
Very nice to drive although if anything goes wrong it cost you $

Congratulations on the van. We too have 4 kids and the dilemma of what car will fit us in. We went for a diesel patrol (manual) over the prado and Pajero as the 3rd row of seats had less leg room than the territory had. (Our previous car). The disco and landcruiser have good rear leg room also, but were pricey. Our patrol doesn't do too bad a job towing this van, except there's no power for overtaking and it struggles with hills.

Welcome to the forum @Matho we have a 2014 17.56.2 outback and the 120 Series Prado (Petrol) tows it no probs apart from on hilly roads. Had a 100 Series V8 Cruiser previously and that even felt the previous 16 footer tourer expanda on hills so am guessing most vehicles will feel them!

As for the weight ours has solid axles and leave springs (Built on a 2013 chassis) and the ATM is 2433kgs giving us 67kgs under the prado limit. I am led to believe that the J-Tec independent suspension works out to about 250kgs heavier?

Good luck in your search as you can see above there are a few to keep you busy looking around!
