Our new van has a fiamma 3 x bike rack on the back which is great - but what are people using once they are parked up and want to transport the bikes to (say) the local trail head etc?

Something that can be stored easy while travelling...?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

What sort of tug @Yackandandah ?
If a 4X4 with rear spare wheel you could try one of these ? Can be folded down and left on the vehicle when not in use.
Other similar ones out there a bit cheaper as well.

Don't know if this might help ...or even how it was done but we were camped next to a Lotus Freelander on Monday night and I noticed what looked like an open Jerry can holder with a lid. The holder was mounted to the rear bar but could be mounted on a car.

Anyway, this holder was fitted with bike mounts which looked very solid and easily removable but hidden when not in use.

I couldn't get closer or get a photo as it was pouring rain. Someone else may have seen these ....maybe Lotus supply them. Holdenman might know.

I was thinking that maybe the fiamma rack might be modular - ie. take off the art with the rails on and then attach it to another bit mounted to the towbar or similar - will have a squiz but need to do some trolling/looking at fiama products I spose!

1st world problem huh !

This is what I used to use @jawk , it's a Berns Beaks bike carrier.
Bit of a PITA to hitch up the van when 5 bikes are on it, but it worked well. Not needed any more though....
Now I carry them on the roof.
