Hey all,
Just wondering if there are any other Expandas out there lapping around Oz? We see a lot of Expandas on the road, and always wonder if people are on Hols, or travelling long term....

There've been some dodgy characters doing just that recently.

Some, I believe, have returned home already, and others are close to home.

Did they behave themselves?

There's always someone on the move......so where are you now?

We've been on the road since July '15, and have met some pretty dodgy characters around some pretty dodgy campfires, while drinking some pretty dodgy beveridges
12months in our camper trailer and we decided to upgrade to a Expanda!

Currently in Mt Morgan Qld, heading West to Broome and down to Perth for Xmas, back home by May along the bottom......

But that was 1922, wasn't it?

Good to hear Smirke has survived...back at the coal face again now?

youarehere, enjoy your perambulation around the place. It sounds like fun but, be warned, it's addictive and you never seem to look on life the same way after an extended trip like that. But you've probably discovered that already!

Yep I think I caught my last fish about 18 months ago but I'm still trying.

I'm also looking forward to getting back on the road so checking out a new van today. We've been trying to recover after a hectic month in Canada which was good, in fact marvellous, but a very different experience from our camping ones.

Hellishly more expensive and constant even though we tried to pace ourselves.

Do you like my new avatar? I spent about 3 hours armed with a camera last week in Alaska searching for bears!
I only got 426 photos in that time but it was great. Cold, wet but great. And lots of salmon in the streams.

I might sell it to drop bear!

Walking into the house was weird. Made me a bit dizzy and light headed because of the space I think. It all went smoothly, but I guess when you run out of money you sort of have to come back and go to work to get more. If I won lotto, I think I would keep having extended trips. Loved not knowing what day it was.

Yep. The scenery is great, the challenges make you resourceful but the best thing is the freedom from time restraints....and that almost everything you do when away like that, you do for yourself (not because you have to or that it's expected)

At least, that was my feeling when we first travelled for months on end. That was mid 1990s ....we decided to do it while we were still young enough and relatively fit and it was the best decision we ever made.

At one stage we'd had no radio reception for over three weeks and didn't care. (Tv for travel wasn't done then).

Happy recovery and return....now to start planning for the next getaway.

Glad all your planning and frustrations before you left had a really positive result.
