Finally managed to hook up the expanda and head north for a week to Jimmys Beach holiday park at Hawks Nest.

After a minor altercation with the gate post resulting in me destroying one of my awning arms (arghhh !) and battling with every other Sydneysider who decided it was a great day to drive north, we finally made it.

The park looks great, surrounded by National Park and a short walk to the beach.

Now time to kick back !!

Bugger about the awning:(
But the bright side is you're away from work and all the other associated stuff home life brings......enjoy it.....and fix it when you get back:D

Thanks @Matty4, yeah just relaxing now.

Will probably get the awning and associated damage fixed through insurance. Will be getting the gate widened whilst it's away getting fixed.

That's a rough start to what should turn out to be a great holiday. Enjoy the rest of the trip and definitely widen the gate when you get home.

Yeah, have to admit I've done similar on my old van pulling it out of the garage, ripped the awning and bent the arm, but not as bad as yours. Got mine replaced under insurance too.

Not a good start to your trip @Bellbirdweb just don't let it ruin your week away...... It can be fixed! Just need to follow the shade of the trees for shelter ;)

Toss up between the shade from the tree and getting sun into the solar panels. Mind you not much of an issue in the rain.

Glad I added a 2nd 100AH battery before we left, still have plenty of juice.

Jimmys Beach is at Hawks Nest NSW.

Really great park, short walk to the beach, huge sites, good facilities.

Pissing down rain since yesterday but still relaxing

That's a bummer with the awning.

Hope youve got a tarp or gazebo...be a bit cosy in the rain otherwise.

We only booked 4 weeks ago. Expecting that they would laugh at us, but they had 2 unpowered sites next to each other for us and our friends.

We didn't care about power or water so work perfectly for us.

The section of beach that's closest to the park is unpatrolled, however stroll 100m North along the sand and they have a fully patrolled section with flags, there were 100's of families swimming on Saturday when we arrived.

No, of course SWMBO said about an hour after we left "we should have brought the gazebo"...... Duhhh.

So all camped in our friends awning together keeping out of the rain.

Luckily we don't have any kids with us.

Yeah there are tracks to both the bay and the beach from the park.

Quite a few swimming on the bay side, nice sandy beach there as well and no waves.

Although is a bit unpleasant with an onshore wind like today, but that's pretty normal.

Absolutely pelted down here all night, but being all sand under the grass, it's still fine under foot.

Poor tent campers couldn't hack it any more and pull out this morning.

Felt sorry for them, been there and done that, but it was nice being warm and dry inside the panda.

Shower and toilet was a nice bonus as well in this weather.
