How'd you nearly get scammed? Were you going to pay for it without seeing it?

Yes full scam they now are advertising from WA. Broome . the vin checks out as valid no debt and they ask for evidence of money ready by way of bank cheque scanned and sent to them. they were stating payment on delivery the scan just for assurances party is genuine. issue being they can use the cheque number to forge a cheque that they then cash. bye bye your money. the couple now calling themselves Dale and James Blake. Dale a nurse even uses a fake work email placing her as working in Toowoomba. but living in WA... they got very aggressive when I refused the scanning and asked for for other paperwork to prove ownership n roadworthy. take care. if u can't get then on a phone and emails don't add up. run....

Thanks for the alert.

They've gone to a lot of trouble with the details so, hopefully, it will not be rewarded.

I'm jealous, our scams just usually leave a mobile number or two or three.

I feel unrequited.

But good on you for posting it.

Same scam appears to be happening with the "couple" saying that they have just moved to Georgetown from Victoria.. Add appears from a Susan Kerr and reply comes from a Anna Blake head nurse... Rang the number listed and no answer so rang the business number and told by them that she doesn't exist and that she is selling all sorts of things from caravans to horse floats...

I hope you reported the scam to the police or at least the site they are advertising on. Can't believe people do this. What is wrong with them! We aren't buying second hand for this reason.

Yep same as the scam that we nearly fell for. They ask to see your bank cheque (scanned) and then use the bank cheque number to cash the money...

here is the latest
https://tradingpost.com.au/Caravans...unks-Shower-Toilet/Weston/ACT/AdNumber=64YS2L

Advertising in the ACT Weston. They even sent me the photo drivers liscense of some block and evidence of registration... with vin number matching.

So people really do buy things like vans sight unseen ???? Hand over the money without any verification at all ??????..............I know I shouldn't be surprised but it does amaze me how gullible some are.

Has it been reported as a scam to Trading Post ???

Hi all,

Long time viewer and first time poster and have a big thank you to the forum. We have been looking and saving for an Expanda for the last 7 months, the first one we found nearest to us in Emerald, QLD looked really good (so did the price) so we decided to go look at it. I have been emailing the "owner" for a few days and we got to the point where they wanted me to scan and email a copy of the bank cheque, which I refused. Later that day I signed up to the forum and found this post. Sure enough it's the same van....!! Here is the trading post ad,
https://www.tradingpost.com.au/Cara...nks-Shower-Toilet/Emerald/QLD/AdNumber=8VJ8XV
I have reported the van, as well as another which has the exact same layout to trading post. I'm still in email contact and have traced their IP address to Melbourne, I'm still doing some other computer checks. I requested the "owner" provide ID documents and they have forwarded the registration paperwork with a copy of a drivers licence to me, it's in the name of a John COLBY. As they have now committed an offence I have reported them to ACORN.

I hope reviving the post would prevent future buyers making a mistake.

So, thanks again to this forum, it saved me a headache although the kids were somewhat excited to go view the van. I have found another van and hope to join the Expanda club soon.

Cheers
Darin

Welcome to the forum @Alphazot and a job well done. Just hope the authorities follow up!
Had a similar one two years ago when looking around for ours but also smelt a rat.... Reported them to the advertising site and police but was told the police couldn't do anything unless $'s changed hand!
