Hi guys, hoping for some help here.I noticed my dometic b2200 a/c has no power whilst plugged into the mains.I had the same issue a few years ago so suspected the main fuse inside had blown.I replaced it and had power again.Getting ready for a trip next week I opened the van to discover no power to a/c again.checked the main fuse and it has blown again even though I haven’t used it.the PCB board appears to have some damage on the back in the same place as the T1 coil.my question is are these things repairable or is a new board required?.what would cause this issue if the unit hasn’t been used?.im not keen on spending $$ on a board if it is going to be damaged in the same way.

While I'm in no way any sort of expert on these things I can say the board is fried, could be a voltage spike when you turned things on and/or just dust and moisture shorting it out, either way a new board as repair is usually not possible with a cooked board, not just the circuit ruined but other components can be dodgy as well and its a gamble to just replace the board without someone doing a full check ...............

My B2200 I replaced about 7 years ago, its was a noisy thing, and useless in the cold, a hail storm was a gift, the new, well old now Ibis Mk 3, is superb nice and quiet but again useless in the cold ... Have to see if you can pull the part number of the board off, boards go for around the $400 mark, one for the B2200 may be hard to find as its been discontinued for many years now..

If my AC dies I will probably just bin it and make a nice roof vent instead, off grid its rarely used in fact even if on mains not used enough to warrant the big$$, cold is covered by a diesel heater or a mains ceramic fan heater, both far better ...

Haven't found a board that looks like yours on any of my parts sites...

Thanks for the reply, it seems that board is discontinued now and the price when available was nearly $1000!!.I have reached out to dometic and waiting for a reply.Hopefully they have a solution.I suspect some moisture has got in at some point.Luckily I don’t need the A/C at the moment as it’s bloody cold here.

Most board fails if not from a power surge or dry solder joint then from a coating of dust and a bit of extra humidity, a visit to the beach especially nice add a bit of vibration and age to crack the coating so over time the corrosion of the circuit or just a plain old short happens .... I did see a few sites with prices like that but the board didn't look like yours.... Asking Dometic should be the sure way of IDing the correct part, so long as you provide your model and serial number...

Yep the B series finished quite awhile ago now, replaced by Ibis models and now they have been superceded also.

If you go for a new one shop around as the prices vary a lot and Dometic themselves can have some good special as well .. I went local so I could bang on the desk if not happy........

Without having the board in my hands it's quite hard to determine what caused the damage. I would carefully clean the underside with contact cleaner and a stiff brush, like a toothbrush, use a small flat bladed screwdriver to scrape away between the tracks (to remove any conductive material thats attached itself), flush with contact cleaner again, let it dry and try again
