Hi ,
After looking at 16 49 3 outbacks we have only come across one that had large seating as opposed to café dinning that lasted 2days before it sold, they seen to be like hens teeth hence we are keeping the 05 but splashing out on a new awning
new tyres and bearings last year, she is well used, strange as it may seem we have damaged the bt under carriage while towing more than the outback. mainly welds on after market sump guards.
any way Advice needed we have never used awning flaps , Hence the question flaps or fit a extra curved bar in centre .we seem to get windy places.

When we had the old '07 16.49.3 all we used was the clamp and velcro style anti-flap clamps with no curved roof bar.... Worked OK but did flap in a stiff breeze! One end had to be lower than the other to stop rain pooling in the middle (OH and it had the larger seating instead of the dinette style and loved it when more than the two of us went away)

With the new annex on our current 17.56.2 we were supplied the anti-flap bar kit and two curved roof bars...... Definitely recommend getting the bars and at least 1 roof bar!

Hi On our 17.55.3 poptop I have the solid bar type anti-flaps and 1 centre bar. The extra triangleation on the top helps in windy conditions like when camped on the coast.

And we much prefer the solid bars with solid clips for places we know will attract storms...eg Qld coast....but use the other clip on when weather is ok.
