Hi All,
Back in June I bought a new HP Laptop and its been sitting here ever since as I couldn't get the VPN Client to work.... I updated the computer to Window's 8 today hoping that it might inspire me to do something about it but still nothing.... I keep getting the VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client - reason 412. My old laptop works fine. I can't transfer data over to the new machine until I can get this sorted as this is how I lodge client tax returns...... The new computer is 64 bit and the old one is 32 bit. I believe I have installed the correct version on the new machine and tried a few online suggestions but nothing has worked.

Any ideas before I take it down to the local tech's....

Andrea,
Google VPN reason 412 for some ideas.
But generally a good starting point when VPNs are not working is to go into your firewall settings within windows and turn them off temporarily. Try the VPN connection again and if that works you generally have a scenario where the windows firewall is blocking something.

The only other thing you have not mentioned is if the way you connected to the Internet is still the same. Ie: same modem, same wireless etc. if that has changed then there are a couple of other items to check such as opening ports on the router.
